1981 International Liberators Conference collection of liberator testimonies Miscellaneous POW camps letters.

Includes letters written by John H. Hill and Buruil Hayes in 1981 relating to their experiences in liberating prisoners-of-war camps and concentration camps. Hill describes the liberation of several stalags in Germany and the types of prisoners liberated from the camps. He also mentions encountering a camp for political prisoners while en route to Kinzenbach as well as the Hadamar Institute where inamtes were victims of euthanasia. The letter by Buruil Hayes describes his imprisonment in two separate stalags in Poland and his liberation by the Red Army.

Historical note: The First Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division was sent to Vietnam in 1965. It was the third United States Army unit to arrive. In December of 1967, the remainder of the division was deployed to Bien Hoa, South Vietnam in Operation Eagle Thrust. The 101st was the only army division ever airlifted directly into combat.
